The MSc in Management Program for HBAs starts in either September or January of HBA2, depending on program stream. It is designed to expand your career options by leveraging a specialized discipline without having to write a GMAT.
Program Details
During Ivey’s HBA1, students have the opportunity to apply for conditional pre-entry to the program. The Ivey MSc in Management is a direct-entry program requiring no previous full-time work experience. It is a transformational experience for ambitious students who want to build on their undergraduate success, hone their skill set, develop their leadership abilities, and accelerate their learning in a specialized master’s degree.
Conditional acceptance into the MSc program gives the student special permission to enrol in some MSc courses as electives towards HBA graduation. Once the student graduates from HBA2 with good academic standing, the student will move into the MSc program and the previously taken MSc courses will provide advanced standing in the MSc. This special permission reduces both the time and cost associated with achieving the advanced degree.

What to Expect from Ivey's MSc in Management
Program Requirements for HBA1 Pre-Entry Pathway:
Candidates must have:
- A strong academic record demonstrated during your two most recent years of academic study;
- Online application, including the completion of the required written essay questions and video questions;
- Resumé (two-page maximum); and,
- Two references;
- Additional requirement for MSc in Business Analytics (BA) stream: Applicants to the BA stream must have achieved a final grade of 78% or higher in DMA (Decision Making with Analytics).
Upon submission of the completed application, within a few business days, some applicants may be invited for an admissions interview based on the results of their video interview responses. Applicants can expect to receive an offer decision within one to two weeks after the admission interview.
The ability to begin MSc coursework while completing the HBA is a special permission attached to successful progression through the HBA. It is not, on its own, admission to or registration in the MSc program. Students remain HBA students until they have successfully completed the HBA and progressed into the MSc.
Academic Expectations & Conditions of the Pre-Entry Pathway
Both the conditional pre-entry offer and the permission to take MSc courses during HBA2 are contingent on successful academic progression.
If a student is unsuccessful in an HBA or MSc course while on this pathway
- Special permission to continue taking MSc courses will be withdrawn; and
- The student will no longer automatically progress into the MSc program via pre-entry.
The student's first priority is to complete the HBA. After HBA completion, they may apply to the MSc through the regular admissions process. Admission at that stage is not guaranteed.

We encourage you to keep the following timelines in mind when planning to submit your application. We process applications as they are received and suggest submitting as early as possible to avoid deadline peaks.
Rolling admissions
Please keep in mind that we process applications on a rolling basis, and both admissions and scholarship decisions are handed out between application deadlines. You do not need to wait for a deadline to apply.
Scholarships
Guaranteed minimum $10,000-scholarship to help offset the tuition payments for both programs.
Program Schedules
*MSc courses successfully completed during HBA2 count toward HBA elective requirements.
*Upon successful HBA completion and formal progression into the MSc, those same eligible MSc courses will also be recognized toward MSc degree requirements.
*If the student does not progress into the MSc via pre-entry but is later admitted through the regular process, Ivey will still recognize eligible MSc credits already earned at Ivey toward the MSc degree.
