Business Analytics: End of Term 3. One more term to go!

End of Term 1

I just can’t believe a year has passed by. This has been the quickest year yet and my experience and time at Ivey has been phenomenal. From the program office to classmates, to events, networking/recruiting season, case competitions, IALs, training and workshops, Ivey has supported us and indeed given us a solid foundation.

This term started off on a pretty busy note, with everyone scouting to secure full-time roles, attending networking sessions and getting interviews from major companies. In the presence of all this, we still strived to keep on top of classes and hand in all the deliverables. As mid-October came, we had an MSc. Case Competition. This ran for two days and was very exciting to work on and see how Business Analytics and International Business minds unraveled cases. Homecoming and reading week approached, and things weren’t as intense as the start of the term.

For business analytics, we had tons of workshops this term on simul8, Tableau, CPLEX and Python. These workshops have been so helpful and we’ve developed our technical skills to make us more competitive in the outside world.

The past few weeks have been quite busy with projects, presentations and wrapping up with the term courses. It’s exam season now and everyone is on their toes trying to end this year with a bang. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone that has secured full-time roles and to encourage everyone still searching to keep at it and don’t give up. The race isn’t always to the swift, major opportunities are just around the corner!

Next term, we’ll be rounding up our MSc degree with the Ivey Field Project. This will be done in groups of four to six people where each group will be providing professional consulting services to a client organization. This would enable us to showcase ourselves as an Ivey brand and how we can apply what we’ve learned through the MSc. program to solve real problems.

With the term coming to an end, we are all looking forward to the month break, exploring the world and rejuvenating for the last term.

With all these in place, we are all so excited to receive the class of 2019 come January. We can’t wait to meet, learn, share and grow with more analytical minds. The sense of community we have at Ivey is second to none; everyone is willing to help and to share ideas and this is one thing I’m grateful for coming to Ivey.

Here’s wishing everyone a fun holiday and a prosperous new year ahead!

Best,

Emi
