A born and raised Torontonian, I am a hard-working individual who wants to make a difference in the world. While I decided to pursue a business degree at Ivey, I am also extremely interested in international affairs and philosophy, which I studied for my first two years at Western. In my spare time I enjoy participating in athletics, working with and assisting others, and reading novels. I am pursuing the Sustainability Certificate because I believe it will verify my passion to help others and allow me to gain knowledge on how to make the world a better place.

Personal Definition of Sustainability
To me, sustainability is any action that seeks to make society more self-sustaining or eradicates threats to society's ability to endure. While society refers to individual cities and countries, I also believe sustainability applies on a global scale, to the societies of the world as a whole. Thus on a microcosmic level, a sustainable action can involve a city's commitment to recycling. On an international scale, sustainability includes actions that increase peaceful international relations; decreasing conflict and making the world a more viable and sustainable place to live.
Sustainability-In-Action
The main sustainability work I have been engaged in is my experience with the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC), and my participation in Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences for the last three years. As my definition of sustainability encompasses peaceful international relations, I believe my commitment to learning about other cultures, policies and international relations reflects action towards sustainability. I have also been volunteering with Western's Student Development Center as an English Conversation Leader, helping international students adapt to life in Canada and improve English language proficiency. This has also allowed me to learn about other cultures, and is another sustainability-related action I have been involved with.
For the upcoming summer I am hoping to secure an internship with an NGO, sustainability focused organization or sector of the government that deals with cross-border affairs. This opportunity will allow me to gain further insight into an organization with a global perspective and a sustainable goal. If I do not secure such a position for part or all of the summer, I aspire to go on a service trip through an organization such as Habitat for Humanity or the Western Indigenous Business Immersion Program.
