Ivey and Impressions of Canada

“Should I apply for Queens or not?” These were the thoughts on my head on a late Monday evening after work. This was two weeks after my interview with Ivey. I decided after much thought that I will make the application to Queens. As I sat down to do the arduous application, I got a call from Ivey admissions about my offer and I was over the moon as I heard it. Ivey snapped me even before I could get Queens to take a look at me. From the far east (Singapore) everything about Ivey and Canada looked exciting and I waited patiently till March of this year to start the adventure.

I did expect to find the weather as something challenging to get accustomed to and putting up with sub-zero temperatures continuously was new to me. One of the memorable things for me during the winter was to see the colour of the city change with an overnight snowstorm. After the snow had melted I slowly began to realize that London is a beautiful city and is not always white. Attending the PKP was one among the better decisions I have made. Not only did it help me to transition from being an executive to a student seamlessly, but also gave me the chance to hang out with my wonderful classmates who came from all walks of life. The orientation events organised by the 2013’s were perfect icebreakers. Meeting more than a 100 new people in a month and forming deep friendships was absolutely exciting.

One month into the program, I have come to terms with the case based learning method and the concept of the learning teams. I am blessed with an amazing learning team, which takes care of every individual member with a sole motive of raising everyone’s standard day by day. The calibre of the faculty has impressed me ever since the PKP days and I continue to be amazed by their dedication and commitment. I’ve never sat in a class, which has been more engaging and fast paced than classes at Ivey. The motto of ‘work hard, party hard’ resonates through the class of 2014 and it makes the weekends in London a lot more happening. I look forward to an adventurous and transformational year at Ivey with my classmates, the school and the faculty.
