Why did you decide to do an MBA?
My decision to pursue an MBA stems from a desire to grow, give back, and inspire.
I come from an unconventional background, one defined by the duality of a professional career alongside a life in dance performance. Balancing both worlds has shaped who I am, but it has also revealed the limits of self-taught business knowledge. My experience has been rooted in startups and small businesses, where wearing many hats was the norm. While that environment taught me adaptability and resilience, I recognized that continuing an upward trajectory would require so a formal foundation in business acumen. Ivey felt like the best place to take that next step.
Beyond my own career growth, I am driven by a desire to serve the communities that have shaped me. Non-profits and performing arts organizations are often under-resourced, not because the need is not there, but because high-caliber business talent is difficult to attract at the compensation levels these organizations can offer. I hope to bridge that gap, bringing meaningful skills back to the spaces that need them most.
Finally, representation matters. As a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, I want to be a visible example for queer youth that success is not confined to a single path. Whether in business, the arts, or anywhere in between, they belong, and they can thrive.
What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?
The most surprising part of the Ivey MBA has been the generosity of my cohort. Despite being a group of highly motivated and ambitious individuals, there is a genuine willingness to support one another. The drive to succeed here is matched equally by a desire to bring others along.
