Pre-MBA employment industry:
Management Consulting
Why did you decide to do an MBA?
I decided to pursue an MBA because I wanted to broaden my perspective, strengthen my leadership skills, and become better equipped to solve complex problems across industries and geographies.
Before Ivey, I worked in health systems consulting, where I saw how strong leadership, strategy, operations, and data-driven decision-making can directly shape outcomes for people and communities. That experience made me realize that meaningful impact requires more than technical expertise. It requires the ability to think strategically, lead diverse teams, make decisions under uncertainty, and communicate effectively with different stakeholders.
I chose the MBA as the next step because I wanted to build those capabilities in a structured and challenging environment. I was especially drawn to Ivey because of its case-based learning approach, which pushes students to think like general managers, defend their decisions, and learn from the perspectives of classmates with diverse backgrounds.
For me, the MBA is a bridge between the work I have done and the leader I am becoming. It is helping me build the confidence, business foundation, and problem-solving skills to grow beyond my previous experience and contribute meaningfully in global health, strategy, and consulting.
Ivey in one word or a few words: Please share what your Ivey experience is to you!
Transformational, challenging, and deeply human.
My Ivey experience has been a journey of growth, learning to think more critically, speak more confidently, and lead more intentionally. The learning method has pushed me beyond simply finding the “right answer” to learning how to defend decisions, listen to different perspectives, and grow through the discomfort of being challenged.
More than anything, Ivey has been a place where I am becoming a sharper thinker, a stronger leader, and a more confident version of myself.
