Why did you decide to do an MBA?
I decided to pursue an MBA to strengthen how I approach complex decisions and expand the scope of impact I can have in my work.
In my work to date, I’ve built and led programs that support startups, employers, and workforce development in emerging technologies. That experience pushed me into decisions around strategy, growth, and long-term sustainability, and I wanted a stronger foundation to navigate them with more rigour and intention.
Ivey stood out because of the case method and the pace. I learn best by working through real problems, being challenged on my thinking, and learning from the perspectives of others in the room.
I’m pursuing the JD/MBA to operate at the intersection of business, law, strategy, and innovation, and to help shape how organizations navigate that complexity.
What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?
One of the most significant things I’ve learned at Ivey is that leadership starts with a clear understanding of who you are.
Beyond the core academic work, courses like Leading People and Organizations (LPO) and Career Management Essentials (CME) push you to reflect on your values, instincts, and how you show up in a team. It’s not just about frameworks or theory, it’s about understanding how your own behaviours and decisions shape outcomes.
That reflection has been as impactful as anything in the classroom. It’s helped me become more intentional in how I lead and communicate, and better at bringing out the best in both myself and the people around me.
What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?
The most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA so far has been how quickly both the community and the personal growth come together.
The strength of the community stands out right away. People are genuinely supportive, collaborative, and invested in each other’s success, and it becomes clear very quickly that you’re building a network that will last well beyond the program.
At the same time, the pace and structure of the program have had a real impact on how I show up as a leader. Even within the first few weeks, I noticed a shift in how I approach discussions and decisions.
Ivey in one word or a few words: Please share what your Ivey experience is to you!
An environment that pushes you to think deeper, lead better, and grow faster than you expected.
