Why did you decide to do an MBA?

I came to Ivey to fill the gaps I knew I had: accounting, finance, strategy. I also wanted to transition into a new geography and a new level of work. I'd spent years executing, building digital products, improving processes, working inside systems other people designed. I wanted to move from making things work to deciding what we build in the first place. I also have a 10 to 15 year plan to leave corporate work and run my own businesses, and I needed the business foundation I'd never formally studied. The MBA isn't just about the next job. It's about setting up the long game: leadership in my field by year five, and eventually the freedom to build something of my own, with more control over my time and more time with the people I love.

What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?

A systemic approach to leading people and making managerial decisions.

What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?

The array of resources available to support students and how intentional every aspect of the program is.

Ivey in one word or a few words: Please share what your Ivey experience is to you!

Two words, Transformative and Human.
