Why did you decide to do an MBA?
I hit a point in my marketing career where I realized I wanted my work to create real social impact, not just drive sales. I've spent 15 years doing independent animal rescue and volunteering with marginalized communities, and I kept thinking: what if I could bring that same energy and commitment into a corporate role where I could actually scale the impact? An MBA felt like the bridge I needed, not just for the business skills, but for the network and credibility to step into Social Impact roles where I can advocate for the communities I care about. Ivey stood out because of the case method, the collaborative culture, and programs like Forté Fellowship that show the school genuinely walks the talk on inclusion.
What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?
Diversity isn't just a buzzword here, it genuinely changes how you think. I come from a background where classrooms were pretty homogenous, but at Ivey, my classmates constantly push me to see things from perspectives I never would have considered on my own. Whether it's a case discussion or a casual conversation, hearing how someone from a completely different country or industry approaches the same problem makes you realize how many assumptions you've been carrying without even knowing it. It's honestly made me a better listener and a more thoughtful leader, because I now understand that creating inclusive environments starts with recognizing the privileges you've taken for granted and being willing to challenge your own thinking.
What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?
Honestly, the way classes are taught, it's something I'd only seen in movies before coming here. The classroom transforms into this incredibly dynamic space where it's not just the professor lecturing at you, but a real dialogue, sometimes even a debate, with everyone bringing sharp insights to the table. The level of commitment and intelligence in the room is genuinely astonishing. I'd never learned through cases before, but now it's the only method that makes sense to me because it forces you to think critically, consider multiple perspectives, and come up with solutions on the spot rather than just memorizing theory. It's challenging in the best way possible.
