Why did you decide to do an MBA?

At 27, I reached a point where I knew I wanted a career change but had a real decision to make between a lateral move into a new industry, or invest a year in an MBA to deepen my business foundation and supercharge my job search. Ivey offered the academic rigor I was looking for, building meaningfully on my business undergrad, while also giving me one last chance to fully immerse myself in a university environment.

What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?

The most important skill I've developed so far is thinking under pressure and quickly synthesizing that into a coherent, well-articulated point. In case discussions, you can raise your hand and get called on immediately, no time to second guess. Anyone can say something or lob a question, but genuinely adding value to the discussion is a different challenge entirely, and trying to build a reputation of doing that consistently is one of my favourite parts of the program. Ivey has sharpened my ability to be ready when the moment arrives, because as we all know, they don't always come back around.
