Pre-MBA employment industry:
Healthcare
Why did you decide to do an MBA?
I started my career in neuroscience research, and it gave me a strong foundation in how to think rigorously, ask the right questions, and work through complex problems. But the further I got into it, the more I found myself drawn to what was happening outside the lab. I was curious about how healthcare organizations make decisions, how strategy gets built, and what it looks like to sit at the table where those conversations happen. The technical work was rewarding, but I kept coming back to the business side of healthcare and the questions that lived there.
That shift in curiosity is what brought me to the MBA. I wanted to build the skills to move into consulting, to work with organizations on the problems that actually shape how healthcare gets delivered. Ivey felt like the right place to do that, and I have not looked back since.
What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?
The most significant thing Ivey has taught me is the power of showing up fully in a team. I came in knowing that collaboration mattered, but the team-based learning here showed me what that actually looks like in practice. Working through cases together, under real pressure and with real stakes, taught me how to listen better, how to cut through to what actually matters in a problem, and how to bring out the best in the people around me.
What made it truly meaningful was how much I learned from the people around me. Every case, every team discussion, every moment of working through a hard problem together added something. I learned how to take in different viewpoints, balance multiple things at once, and still move forward with clarity. Collaboration at Ivey was not just a method, it became the way I learned to think.
What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?
One of the most surprising aspects of my Ivey MBA journey has been the people and the sense of community here. I came in knowing that the program would be demanding, but I did not expect to feel so connected so quickly. There is always something happening, whether it is a club event, a case competition, or a conversation that turns into something meaningful.
Ivey in one word or a few words: Please share what your Ivey experience is to you!
Transformative. Ivey is not a sprint you run once and recover from. It is a marathon, and that is what makes it special. Every day brings something new to learn, a case to work through, a conversation that shifts your thinking, a moment that pushes you to grow. It is demanding, but in the best possible way. I am becoming a better thinker and a better collaborator with every passing week, and I would not trade that for anything.
