Why did you decide to do an MBA?
I decided to pursue an MBA because I reached a point where doing analysis alone wasn’t enough for me anymore. I wanted to be part of the decisions behind it. Working in FP&A gave me a strong foundation, but over time, I realized the parts I enjoyed most were beyond the numbers. I found myself more interested in thinking about strategy, working across teams, and figuring out how to actually move the business forward.
That shift is what led me to an MBA. I was looking for a place where I could challenge how I think, learn from people with different perspectives, and grow outside of my comfort zone.
What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?
I think the most significant thing I’ve learned at Ivey is how to stay focused and make decisions under pressure. The workload is intense and you’re constantly balancing multiple priorities. At the beginning, I was just trying to get everything done, but over time I realized it’s not about doing more, it’s about deciding what matters most and being comfortable making trade-offs.
I also learned how to stay calm in that process, especially when there isn’t a clear right answer. For me, moving from just executing tasks to actually thinking about priorities and making decisions has been one of the most valuable changes.
What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?
What surprised me the most about the Ivey MBA is how collaborative the environment is.
Coming in, I expected it to be very competitive, especially with such a strong group of students. But in reality, people are incredibly supportive. Everyone is willing to share ideas, help each other prepare, and push each other to do better.
Another thing that surprised me is how much you’re challenged every day. You’re constantly put in situations where you have to think on the spot and speak up, even when you’re not fully comfortable.
