I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately about the competitiveness of applying to Ivey for our Round 4 or Final Deadline (November 28th and January 9th, respectively). There is a misconception that as the admissions cycle progresses, it becomes more difficult to have a successful application. But I want to ensure you that – for our Program at least – this isn’t exactly the case.
While it’s true that we award both seats and scholarships at every round, and therefore the number of available seats and the scholarship pool decreases after each round, we manage both very closely. All admissions and scholarship decisions are based on the quality of applications relative to the candidate pool, and if we meet an applicant who we feel is a great fit for our Program and/or merits an award, we will make sure they get one.
We also don’t work to quotas at Ivey. We definitely have targets that we work towards, but we aren’t going to admit a candidate simply because we need to hit a number. We have wiggle room so that even if we have hit our target for class size, we have the flexibility to go over that number with offers of admission to strong candidates.
If you feel that the Ivey MBA Program is right for you and you are right for us, don’t let the fact that we’re into the latter rounds prevent you from applying!
