Last Saturday, September 15, the Ivey MBA Marketing and Sales Club hosted the first ever ‘Super Saturday’ event in Toronto. This event gave current MBA students interested in pursuing a career in sales or marketing the opportunity to participate in mock interview sessions with Ivey alumni currently working in high profile marketing and sales roles.

This event was a huge success! We were extremely fortunate to have participation from the following Ivey MBA alumni; Fiorella Marchinares, Kavitha Pachagounder, Sina Zere, Cecil Sarin, Jonathan Del Rosario, and Aleem Visram. Each alumnus brought their own experience, background, and expertise to the table. They were able to give insight into the recruiting process and provide club members with constructive feedback and recommendations to focus on going forward.

Ivey’s phenomenal alumni network is one of the major factors that set Ivey apart from other MBA programs. The value that alumni bring to you during and after the program is truly invaluable.

The commitment and attendance of our club members was remarkable! When planning this kind of event, you really don’t know how many members to plan for, especially when it’s never been done before. Our members went to great lengths to attend the event and make it happen! Everyone showed up ready to rock; ready to show alumni what the class of 2013 is all about! We were thrilled to have nearly 90% of club members participate.

This just goes to show the degree of support that exists among our classmates and extended Ivey family. Career Management, specifically Brenda Pearson and Melissa Welsh, were extremely pivotal in the execution of this event. Both Brenda and Melissa helped us throughout the entire planning process. Their support and commitment to our club has been outstanding and is greatly appreciated. At Ivey, opportunities to lead, create, and execute are provided; however these opportunities would never come to fruition without the support of your Ivey family.

As an executive team this year, we made it our mandate to increase membership, expand events and create value for our club members. The ‘Super Saturday Event’ was a great example of our efforts and success in achieving this goal. Co-Presidents Priya Trivedi and Tim Reeve-Newson, and Co-VP Abhimanyu Shekhawat are an integral part of the club’s success this year. It is an honor to work with such talented, driven, and dedicated individuals.

We hope that this is the first of many Marketing and Sales Club ‘Super Saturday Events’. It has been a great success story so far, and we hope that classes to come are able to experience the same value, insight, exposure we were able to gain from this event. It is important to reiterate that the success of this event was a direct result of the caliber of individuals in attendance. Ivey surrounds you with the best of the best and when we all come together, we breed success!
