Why did you decide to do an MBA?

After six years working in the public sector, I saw doing an MBA as the most effective way to pivot towards a career in Finance. I decided I needed both a solid foundation in business and a strong, established network to connect me to opportunities with leading companies and investment firms across Canada.

As a Western Alumni, Ivey stood out to me from the beginning. The cultural fit was a major deciding factor for me, coupled with Ivey’s reputation for delivering a truly world-class business education, and its track record for developing some of Canada’s most accomplished executives. The strong alumni network drew me to Ivey, as Ivey helps facilitate building connections with classmates and industry leaders to foster career growth, mentorship, and lifelong friends.

What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?

While at Ivey, I've learned how to effectively manage my time. I found I was able to prioritize my tasks and be productive with any spare time I had to get my work done, so I was able to enjoy all the social events.

What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?

The most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date is how helpful my classmates are! Throughout the program, my classmates were willing to donate their time to help our class get up to speed on a particular topic and help the class prepare for exams. I could lean on my learning teams and classmates for support throughout the program!
