Is it too early to start thinking about applying to a program that begins in 14 months? Not at all! In fact, I think starting now has many advantages, especially when it comes to…
Your Research: Starting the process early gives you the opportunity to meet with different business schools at MBA Fairs, Info Sessions, and Campus Visits. This is important not only to help you figure out what is important to you, but to learn how that particular program will help you achieve your career goals.
The GMAT: Starting the process early allows you the time to prepare for the GMAT and obtain a score you are satisfied with. And if you don’t do well, you will have time to study and re-write the exam before the next application deadline.
Obtaining Leadership Experience: With time on your side, you have the chance to take on some assignments/projects at work that would demonstrate skills important to business school admissions, such as problem solving, decision making, and teamwork. If you cannot showcase these skills in your job, get involved in a volunteer committee inside or outside of work.
Writing the Essay: Starting the process early allows you the opportunity to capture those brilliant ideas for an essay that come to you when you least expect it. It also allows you the time to refine it so that you are submitting an essay that reflects who you are.
Applying to a MBA Program can be a lot of work, so begin early and pace yourself so that you don’t burn out. Our Early Round application deadline is set for May 7, 2012. If you are considering our April 2013 intake, I recommend that you begin the application process soon so that you can benefit from the advantages of starting early
