Why did you decide to do an MBA?

I’m incredibly passionate about making an impact beyond the bedside as an Emergency Registered Nurse. I get immense satisfaction knowing I made a difference in someone’s day - small or large. My passion towards making an impact truly gives me a reason to keep learning and work towards mastery in multiple disciplines in my life. MBA seemed like the perfect fit for me to do so.

What is the most significant thing you've learned at Ivey?

Coming from a non-traditional background, Ivey certainly challenged me in many ways possible. The biggest takeaway I have learned at Ivey is my resilience to take on any challenge and opportunity with open arms has immensely expanded. This greater resilience of mine will certainly be useful in this ever-changing environment of business.

What's been the most surprising aspect of the Ivey MBA journey to date?

Coming into the program, I knew I would make great connections but I didn't expect how fast and how deep those connections would be considering the small window of time. With a rigorous one-year MBA program, your peers are truly supporting one another on as they prepare and embark on their next journey post-MBA.

Describe the role you play professionally:

Professionally, I am a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario for 5 years now.

What is the most challenging aspect of your job?

At the start of the coronavirus pandemic, no one really knew what to expect. However, while I was used to working with ambiguity, this added another layer of challenges not only to the organization but of course, to society globally. Thus, managing patients' concerns and the uncertainties about COVID-19 at a time where I didn't have answers to was the most challenging aspect of my job.

What is your biggest professional accomplishment?

I consider my biggest professional accomplishments to be managing the entire emergency department as a Charge Nurse during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic...and most obviously, saving lives!

As a registered nurse, I progressed the ladder from entering as a novice nurse and ending it as charge nurse (with these steps in between: Acute-trained, Resuscitation-trained, Triage-trained).

What books are on your bedside table AND/OR what podcast are you listing to right now?

Podcast: Flagrant 2

How do you manage stress (i.e. sports, exercise, meditation etc.)?

I manage stress through a plethora of ways - socializing with friends and family, baking, getting a mani/pedi or just going for a walk.

Any additional info you might want to share (interesting facts, special hobbies etc.)

In my spare time, I enjoy trying new restaurants, exploring other cultures, and rooting for NFL's Dallas Cowboys!
