MSc International Business with CEMS-MIM 2019
MSc '19, Ivey Business School
Tell us about yourself.
I graduated from Western University with a degree in Finance and accepted a position working at EMCO as a Purchases and Payments analyst. Through this role, I was really able to develop the analytical side of my personality as the position required precision, organization and attention to detail. I knew I wanted to continue to pursue business but I wanted a position which combined finance and strategy while also incorporating my international background. Ivey offered me everything that I wanted and so much more. Through the CEMS MIM program I have been exposed to classmates from all. over the world and I hope to continue this journey with a semester abroad at the Copenhagen Business School. This past summer, I spent two months completing an internship at MKCL in Pune, India. This was such an incredible opportunity that further reassured my decision to come to Ivey. I learned about working in different cultures and the importance of being flexible, adaptable and respectful. Ivey has allowed me to pursue real-world experience through this international internship while also enhancing my academic knowledge. This program allowed me to further develop my love for travel, cultures and experiences while giving me all of the tools necessary to succeed in my career.
Think back to when you were researching business schools. What did Ivey offer you that other schools did not? What made it a good fit for you?
Ivey offered the best of both worlds because it offered real world experience in a relevant field while also furthering my education and passion for knowledge. Ivey differed from other schools through the CEMS MIM program which brings together individuals from all over the world, making the in-class sessions that much more valuable. Through my time at Ivey, my perspective has been widened and I have had the opportunity to share my culture while also learning about others. Ivey's emphasis on dedication, hard work and commitment to excellence made it a great fit for me as these are all values I share.
What is your most memorable Ivey MSc Experience to date?
To date, my most memorable experience was my two month internship in India. The opportunity to explore a new country with classmates who become family was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were able to lean on each other as we tried to adapt to life in such a diverse, new country. That experience was filled with so much joy and laughter, even throughout the difficult moments. The support system that we built in another country re-enforced the commitment Ivey makes to building, developing and maintaining relationships.
