MSc International Business & CEMS-MIM 2018

MSc '18, Ivey Business School

Briefly, describe your background and profile. Think about how Ivey is/will complement your own personal background and experience.

I have a BTech in Computer engineering and an MA in Public Administration from prominent universities in India. Along with the academic component, I also worked as a community development worker for an NGO for more than two years. The learning I’m receiving at Ivey, combined with my unique profile and knowledge about the grassroots level in a dynamic emerging economy working for an NGO, will go a long way in developing me as a sought-after professional who brings a different perspective to the table.

Think back to when you were researching business schools. What did Ivey offer you that other schools did not? What made it a good fit for you?

The case study method as the main mode of teaching at Ivey was a big draw. Rather than theoretical, learning from actual situations is always more beneficial in my opinion. The other draw was the CEMS component of the program. As the degree awarded is an international business, having studied previously in India and currently in Canada, the chance to study in Europe and gain further international experience will be further complementary to my MSc IB degree.

What are your plans after Ivey? What do you hope to achieve by graduation?

Coming from a non-business background, by graduation, I hope to have learned the fundamental building blocks of business. After Ivey, I hope to learn the best business practices prevalent in North America and use the lessons learned to further develop myself as a well-rounded professional.

How is your story different from that of your classmates? What perspective do you bring to the class?

I believe my diverse academic profile as well as the experiences of having grown up in India, a place the whole world is looking towards presently and in the future, gives me a different perspective and opinion towards life and business from my classmates. This helps me look at the same problem as my classmates with a different mindset.
