MSc Business Analytics 2018
MSc '18, Ivey Business School
Briefly, describe your background and profile. Think about how Ivey is/will complement your own personal background and experience.
The MSc in Management has helped expand my business knowledge to complement my CS background and position me for work in business analytics. Ivey teaches leadership skills and a special way of thinking unmatched by other analytics programs.
What were you most nervous about when you began the program? Has that nervousness eased, and/or how have your expectations been met/exceeded?
It was daunting to be surrounded by so many smart, talented, and driven individuals. I was nervous about the level of "cut-throat" competition and worried class relationships would be superficial and exist only for the benefit of personal development.
My experience has instead been that the high level of exceptionalism around me has pushed me to grow and thrive in more ways than I imagined. While everyone is super competitive, there is also a team mentality. People push each other to achieve at their highest levels. Generally, rather than hide their work for their own self-advancement, people help each other out and this has led to a fantastic learning experience coupled with some deep and valuable friendships.
What are your plans after Ivey? What do you hope to achieve by graduation?
Work in consulting at Deloitte focusing on analytics.
How do you see the case-method developing you as a business leader?
It draws out conflicting opinions, which leads to deeper discussions and teaches you to articulate and defend your thoughts.
