Tell us about yourself.
My strong interest in the food industry helped me finish my undergraduate degree in Food Management. As I see more emerging in the big data field, I thought big data could be combined with food industry to make predictions and find out more customers insights. It’s interesting to see how data can help to make predictions and increase business performance. I was inspired to become a data expert in the food industry to help companies know more about their customers and increase their business performance.
Think back to when you were researching business schools. What did Ivey offer you that other schools did not? What made it a good fit for you?
Ivey MSc Program targets students who graduate within two years and the IAL helps us get real world experience with data analytics. Ivey’s strong reputation also attracted me to be part of the Ivey community. Ivey aims to develop individuals who think globally and have strong leadership skills, and my international background made me a good fit for the program.
What were you most nervous about when you began the program? Has that nervousness eased, and/or how have your expectations been met/exceeded?
As a candidate who is from a non-technical background, I knew the Business Analytics stream would be a challenge for me. As I expected at the beginning of the program, I had lots of difficulties with programming and statistics, but I strive to become more competent and knowledgeable in the big data field, and I knew the program would help me go further, and it did.
What are your plans after Ivey? What do you hope to achieve by graduation?
I am going to join Bell as a Business Intelligence Consultant next September. I am very excited for the opportunity as Bell’s corporate environment will allow me to try different departments and get different experiences within the big data field. I would be able to build up more connections and experience, which is beneficial for my long term career development.
